Day 15: Pool Day Camp Day

Thursday, June 14, 2012

Today, we went to the pool for camp. This is the pool that is surrounded by mountains. A few of us went early in Valdete's car to start counting the students as they came in so we could pay for them. The rest of our team came by bus. I spent most of the day just hanging out with people. I did get in the kiddie pool a while, but other than that I did a lot of talking/listening.

It was Cameron and Morgan's birthday today. The entire day was a celebration!

It is a Kosovar tradition for the birthday girl to get "caked" in the face.

Students left periodically through the afternoon. Some went to hang out in Suhareke while others went to play paintball. I remained at the pool with most of the other students. We left around 4. Valdete gave me 20 minutes to get ready after the pool, then we I rushed around town and bought some balloons and other decorations and then headed to Hotel Solid to set up for dinner. Solid was the restaurant the leaders went to one of the first days we were here and the owner is the dad of one of our campers (Grasca). The waiters got extremely excited and helped us decorate. The bus brought everyone a little bit later. While we were waiting for the food, we walked up to the top of a mountain to see the view of the waterfall, pools, and of the surrounding area. We ordered plates of chicken, steak, veggies and then we had some stones on which you can cook some more steak so the students got to have the experience we did the other day.

Morgan, Valdete, and I laughed and laughed during the entire dinner over an onion! I think we have been around each other way too much.

Valdete and Berat gave the girls gifts and then Grasca surprised the girls with gifts and cake. What a great way to end the evening.

Grasca and the girls.

The tradition of putting cake on the birthday girls continues!
