Travel

Travel Day: The team met up at the church at 7:40 Wednesday morning before heading to the airport. We all felt the support and love from the parents and friends who came to see us off.

Our trip to the airport started the trip off right... We laughed and bonded from the beginning!
Unlike last year, this airport experience was smooth. We had a few bags searched as we went through security but we sped right through everything else. Then we had about an hour and a half to hang out and get to know each other a little better before the flight.

Flight #1: Atlanta to Dulles-  1 hour 20 minutes

Katelyn's first plane ride was a success!

Coloring, talking, sleeping, and playing games passes the time during our 4 hour layover.

Five Guys, Chipotle, and Starbucks were our choices for our "last" American meal.

Cam's faces have begun already!

We are now ready for the next leg of the trip. This one is a lot longer!!!

Flight #2: Dulles to Vienna- 8 hours 15 minutes

Everyone started off really cheerful. As the night continued, we drifted in and out of sleep, watched movies, read, listened to babies cry, and laughed.

We had a much better time in the Vienna airport this time... No running, no shuttle, no stress! We even had an hour to kill. You now see some excitement but everyone is exhausted.

Flight #3: Vienna to Pristina- 1 hour 20 minutes

Will all our bags make it?!
Yes! We didn't lose any luggage.
We were so overwhelmed as we walked out of the airport. We saw all of our friends and it was an amazing reuion.

They rode the bus from Suhareka to come meet us and even came with signs!

Now this is who I've been looking forward to seeing!!!

The team and our friends from Kosovo.

The 1 hour bus ride from Pristina turned into a 25 minute ride because of the new highway constructed by an American company. It was so refreshing to get to spend some of our first moments in the country with some of our friends!

The afternoon was just beginning though. We dropped our bags in our rooms and were ready for some lunch.

It has been an eventful 30+ hours of traveling. Thanks for sticking with us. Don't worry, we didn't let them go to sleep until a long day of walking and eating!
