Day 12: Family Visits

Today, the campers invited our American students over to their house. Since we have about 200 students in camp, not all the homes were visited today but there were some really amazing stories that came out of the day. Here are a few of the stories from yesterday.... I'm sorry you don't get stories from everyone.

Katelyn here... (and Morgan agrees with what she said)
So today I went to Nazife's village with my good friend Morgan. We went to her Beautiful home and had the most delish meal it was called pita. Along with this we had ayran yogurt, some cucumber salad, and some awesometastic Russian Tea. I became really stuffed so we found a stopping point and waited on Tai and Connor to join us on our adventure across the village. On the way there we had some interesting mishaps happen on the way. We went across this muddy path and Morgan in her cute toms stepped into the mud, so we had to stop by their neighbors house to wash her feet off. After that we decided to climb to the top of a hill so we could see the whole village. It was rather rough getting up there but it was worth it because the view was so beautiful and breathtaking. After we got down, we walked the rest of the way to the bus stop. Pretty much the whole time we were singing just to make the time pass by. This hike to the bus stop definitely felt like a ten mile hike. But everything that happened was such a great experience with beautiful scenery.

Peyton L. here...

I went to Diella's house. One of the highlights was her telling us about her dream for the next year. She told us about she wanted to be there for the new people who were coming into the kingdom. She said it may be easier for people to talk to her since she is closer to their age.

Sarah here... (Jenna filling in)

I got to go to two houses with Anna, Regan, Jenna, Gillian, and Lena. (The girls told us they live on the other side of Oxxo so I thought it was pretty close so I wore my flipflops. After about 15 minutes I realized I wore the wrong shoes. I am already a slow walker and so I started falling back behind the group. However, I'm glad that I did because one of the girls started walking with me and we had some amazing conversations on the way there and back.) We hung out there and had chicken, macaroni and cheese, salad, and ice cream. (I got to help make the macaroni and cheese). After eating, we sat in the living room and there was some people singing and dancing on tv. Then we went to another girl's house and had Russian Tea. (It was here I got to dance with the girl and laughed a lot.)

Gabriel here...

I was able to go visit the home of one of my friends on my team and had lunch with his family and friends. We had home made beef sausage with freshly baked bread. When we went outside, he took me for a spin around his village on his moped, terrifying yet enjoyable. They spent most the time attempting to get me to say albanian words and then laughing at me when I couldn't.

Here's a pic from Cam and Landry's visit.
