Day 4: Camp Planning and Humanitarian Day

Cameron and Landry were right on about what we did today so there's not much else I can add.

We had a great day planning for camp. We even put the Kosovar students into color groups this morning and are excited about the 170-200 people coming tomorrow to camp.

Humanitarian Day today consisted of taking food to some of the people the organization sponsors. We split our team in half and so half went from 1:30-3:00 and the other group went from 3:00-4:30. Both me and Jeremy went during both times but split up, and loaded up in vans so we got to experience different houses.

I was able to give lots of high fives at the first place I went because I fell in love with the kids! It was at this house I realized how amazing Krislynn is at communicating with people. Her Albanian phrases helped her show the families they are loved. I opened one of the clothing bags we gave them and was able to pull out some stuffed animals. Oh the smiles on their faces melted my heart. I thought Jeremy was going to be with me, so I didn't take my camera. With the second group of students I got to visit two houses. The first house had an INCREDIBLE view but of course I didn't have my camera. One was a family who had a crippled 7 year old girl. Our hearts broke for her as we sat there. I stuck out my hand and she held it even though she didn't move her limbs very much. She squeezed it quite a few times and had the biggest smile on her face we all teared up.

Berat wanted to limit the pictures, so here's what we got of Jeremy's experiences.

While the color groups weren't visiting families they hung out in the lobby of Rozafa.

Buses don't run on Sunday so we don't get to see the students, but Baton leaves nearby and came to visit the students!

We wanted to end the evening with a traditional Kosovar food so we bought some flija. It takes hours and hours to make and we had 4 of them. I'm sure you are wondering if we made it... nope! We bought it! The team had mixed feelings of the dish! You do get messy as you pull off one layer at a time and dip it in the sauce of your choice.

Sam loves it! (Cheese, honey, and jam were his dips)

Emily, Katelyn, and Val love it too!

Some of these students got their first taste!

A characteristic of this group is definitely laughter! My cheeks hurt at the end of the day because of all the fun we have. Camp starts tomorrow. YAY!!!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to do the blog and post the pictures so often. I know y'all are so busy and tired by the end of the day, but it sure does a mama's heart good to get a "little peek" as to what goes on in a regular day-- so Thank You! Praying for y'all!
