So.... my friend Jana asked me to go to a retreat/women's conference with her church this past weekend. I didn't really know what the conference was all about, but I was excited to get to spend some time with Jana nonetheless. After school we drove up to Cleveland, Tennessee. On our way, we got stuck in some traffic, got caught in a huge rain storm where we couldn't even see the road, got stuck in some more traffic, and then got caught in some more rain. We made it safely up to the top of the mountain though- even though my driving might have scared Jana to death... it's not my fault it rained lots and we were going about 15 miles an hour! (She drove back!) We even stopped at Sweet Tomatoes, a restaurant I had been wanting to try. It was yummy and we even met a friend.... Moose. No, that's not his real name, but it's the name we gave the older gentleman. As we walked through the line, he made a comment to his wife, "You only live once." I said that's true. Then I started backing up the buffet line and said, "I'm sorry." He said, "Saying sorry is a sign of weakness." Jana and I laughed. As we finished our meal, we partook in a yummy chocolate cake with ice cream on top. Moose walked by and said, "Calories, calories." The next time he walked back by I said, "Well you said you only live once, so why not eat something yummy?!" He said, "Yeah, that's why I'm going to get me some!" We even made a special stop by his table on the way out to say bye. I wonder what his wife thought, but all we could do was laugh and think about how our dad's both talk to random people.
Here are the pictures of our ride up there. Jana and her mustache (out kids do this at school). The second picture is a UFO- spaceship or something and the third picture is the sunset.

I'll be really brief about the weekend. The conference was a little more basic than we had expected. In addition, I experienced some interesting things. Jana's church was the most conservative church of the ones there, so we sat on the back row the whole weekend. While others experienced God in alternate ways, we watched like flies on a wall. I have so many stories, I won't waste your time, but I will tell you them in person if you ever want to hear them! There were times I went in my shell and pretended to be invisible. We were out of place, but all we could do was laugh about it. Even though there were some interesting moments of the weekend, there were some really good moments too. Probably the highlight of the weekend was that I got to have some really good conversations with Jana. I mean when you are stuck in the car with someone for a few hours, I guess you have to talk to them huh?! I'm thankful Jana asked me to go with her, hopefully next time will be a little different!
Oh we also played on a playground... if you didn't notice from the pictures!
