Half birthdays

When I was younger, I always said, "I'm ___ and 1/2." I always was pretty specific on my age, maybe that's b/c I like figuring out the math. Jeremy and I have always done that too. When we dated, we even could tell you to the number of hours we had officially been dating. I heard Aiden ask Momma the other day when her half birthday was. I laughed because I remembered wanting to celebrate on mine when I was younger. Well, it happened that her 1/2 birthday was today, so it's just a great time to post since we are in our big birthday month.

Our family hasn't really ever celebrated half birthdays before, but why not?! It's an excuse to hang out, swim, and eat cake. It's almost the end of swim season (boo!) and Aiden's never had a swim party for her birthday either, so why not have a swim party?! I planned on going to family swim after school (we've been having family swim pretty much every year since we got the pool when I was in elementary school). Every Friday, in the summer, the family would come together. Well, why not on a Tuesday since we need extra family swims?! After school, I looked at my phone and I had a message from Momma. Two years ago I got a call from Momma about Grandmother passing away and I can't ever shake that feeling of my heart sinking when I get a call from her or anyone else in my family. It's awfully sad b/c I love my family so much, but I get a little nervous when they call. It was a good call though about the party.

I made a card where each of the words only had half of their letters since we were celebrating a half birthday. The card read (with some of the letters halfway written), "Hap Birt Aid..... W lo Yo!" Miriam and Momma cut a card in half and each gave her half. Momma wrapped only half of her present and only gave her half of it (bee "hat" without the veil). Hannah made her some gifts too. Daddy and Hannah found half of a cake (triangle shape) at Publix. Daphne made a whole cake too, so we had 1/2 and a whole. Momma started cutting the plates in half. Man, we went a little overboard. There were so many comments about "half" all evening. Half a supper, half cups/plates/forks, half of myself in the water, balloon being there half the party... We had a WHOLE lot of fun even though it was a half birthday party! If you ever need to celebrate something, let us know b/c we love to have birthday celebrations.
