Long Weekends

I love long weekends. I wish I had a 3 day weekend every week! Even though I think that would be a good idea, it would actually throw me off of my schedule. I'd get into a routine of getting up and going to bed and then it would be the weekend. Then I would probably want to stay up late and goof off instead of getting things done. This weekend I did just that. I goofed off. It was needed and I don't regret it one bit!

After school on Friday, Jeremy and I went to my parent's house for the end of family swim and for dinner. When we got home we decided to watch a movie. Jeremy picked Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. He thought I would enjoy it---and I did... however, every time we watch a movie on a Friday night I fall asleep. I did fall asleep this time too and missed most of the movie. With about 10 minutes left in the movie, Jeremy said I tried to expand my territory on the couch. I kicked him in the side and I didn't even realize it. He said, "I got the hint you wanted me to move, so I moved to the other couch!" Woops!

Saturday morning we got up and drove to Ellijay to spend the day/night Katherine and Josh. We hadn't seen them since January, so it was good to catch up with them. Here are some pictures of our trip.

We had lots of fun! We ate at a local BBQ place for lunch. You could buy a pig (wooden) and write your name on it. They had a hill full of all the pigs (The picture is only part of the hill)! Katherine and I got to paint pottery at a local shop while Jeremy and Josh hung out at the church. I might have found a new hobby. I enjoyed the talking and painting, but I didn't like the paint to dry on my hands. It felt like chalk and gave me the heebie-jeebies. We also saw their church and cute house. Katherine is an amazing decorator and they were very hospitable. During the weekend we got to enjoy some good food, good talks, and got to play with Nooma, their dog. Jeremy tortured the dog and she still liked him anyway, but the dog loved her aunt Laura! We had fun in the town but decided we (Laura decided) couldn't live there because they don't have a Chick-fil-A.

We also got to spend some time with some of our TCAMC (The Church at Mill Creek) friends at Scott's house. I love the Kindig family! Scott's the "boss" at our summer camp and spending time with his family just makes me smile. It is becoming a tradition to hang out at Scott's house on the Sunday before Labor Day. We got a text about going over there, but it was short notice and seemed like there weren't enough details. Then we were the first to show up (we were even LATE) and I asked Jeremy to keep driving because I was afraid we were given incorrect information! It actually was a get-together though, we were just the first ones there. It was a great catch up time!

I can't leave out spending time with my family though. We got to hang out with them this weekend too. I always love every moment of that. It was sad that not everyone was able to join family swim today because Party Jumps had an event at Stone Mtn. Micah got to join the fun though. He didn't stop eating the entire time! It all started with pizza for lunch. Then Martha brought some doughnuts... sigh... I never can choose which one to eat, so I end up eating multiple doughnuts. Well, Micah kept finding the box and helping himself too! He probably sampled as many as I did. Later, Corrine and Terren were eating healthy on top of the table. Micah decided he would join them in the grape eating. Terren began to feed Micah the grapes. She laughed and laughed about how funny it was. Then her laughing stopped and she put her finger in her mouth and started crying. When she went to put the grape in Micah's mouth, he bit down on the grape and her finger! Right after that someone started eating a banana and Micah felt that his stomach needed a banana too. Don't worry Miriam, he won't starve at Mam-ma's house! He was a hoot to watch all afternoon! Also, chatting with my other family members including my aunts and cousins provided enjoyment for my afternoon. Jeremy decided to be anti-social on labor day and stayed inside all day playing WOW (World of Warcraft). To top the day off we went to Chick-fil-A because if you wore a team logo/jersey you got free chicken strips. What a great weekend!

Now I must start another week of school. I have really enjoyed my year so far except letters about too much homework (3 math problems). My kiddos have been great, and this week holds many new things for me. My new master's class begins (Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Part 1---I'm really excited), I get to chaperone our first football game of the season, and my dad celebrates a birthday! Oh but be careful and don't wear white open-toed dress shoes now (if you ever do)!!
