Field Day 2011

Field Day 2011 started out with a 8th grade parade. This is something 6th graders look forward to all three years of middle school. They get to parade around the school and cheer. Our halls are quiet on a normal school day so this is something extremely abnormal. These 8th graders were quite a challenge when they were in 6th grade, but it's so good to see them every now and then.
Here are my kids waiting patiently. This is before I started running back and forth down our hall to pump up our kids! Our hall was a rainbow of colors. I chose orange, Thurber was pink, Pelphrey was blue, and Eldridge was lime green (like I've been in the past).

I even decided to go down gold team's hallway and get a picture with Guillebeau.
On field day we get to have a cookout. The kids love it. They get to eat with whoever they want. It's funny that my class stayed together for the most part.

The teachers decided to eat in the center of the bus lane.
I love having Megan next door. She's quite a lot of fun!
I love teaching with Maleigh. She brings much joy to our classroom. We can laugh and just shake our heads at the crazy things we are asked.
Ben is across the hall. He also adds humor to our team.
Here are my kids with their sign. They were so proud of it. We were McBryar's Road Crew. A big thanks goes out to Jana and Robert for helping with the name.
Megan's class was the Pink Panthers.

Ben's class was Lime Green Machines I think.
Brandi got really creative and was "Pelphrey's team"
love these two-
Alright.... LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When taking this picture, I couldn't help but laugh at Jana. She's so serious.
First up was the cotton ball relay. The kids had to carry a cotton ball on a spoon.
Next up was the coconut relay.

Okay, so I needed to take another break of running up and down the field with the kids (cheering them on) to take a picture with Amber. Seeing these pictures of all my coworkers, reminds me how blessed I am. These aren't coworkers, they are friends!
Yet, another one of me and Jana. I can never have enough pictures of friends.
Opponents (also my students).
Ball between the knees relay
I thought this was hilarious. I caught one of my students in action while losing the ball.
The sidelines. You can't even tell Megan is a teacher in this one.
Team leapfrog.
Okay, so the tennis ball toss always shows how competitive I am. Notice the tennis ball at the top of the picture.
Notice I am the most intense of my teammates.
During the toss, I caught all 10 balls as did one other teacher (a sub), so we had to go into another round.
I was doing okay, but then I fell. I scraped up my knee. I fell again and the balls fell out of the box. UGH. We came in second.
Boys baton relay.

Girls baton relay

We pretty much dominated at field day up to this point.

At the end we always do some whole team games. We only had time for one this year, the hula hoop race. Maybe I should mention we also pulled out a 1st place in this one too!

Our kids were so excited we won pretty much all the races, that my "son" took our banner and made it into a cape to fly around.
Knowing, I still needed a picture with Brandi, I would not leave the field without one! I had to interrupt her talking to get one.
Once we left the hill, we returned to our room and had ice cream sandwiches a yearly treat. Some of the boys had gotten some "pucker art" which is really just sugar in a stick (like a pixie stick), but this was apparently not really good. It also left stains....

At the end of the day, boys will be boys! I'd take these two home with me any day, but they wear me out at school so I don't know how much attention I could give them at home. Instead of taking them home, I was thankful I got to send them home to spend a week with their parents. :)
