Blogging and Summer

Welcome to our blog! So, I (Laura) really cannot believe I am doing this. Blogging that is. I have books to read for my school, papers to write for my master's program, and school to get ready for. Instead of doing these things, what am I doing? Blogging. I fear this will become a new "addiction" in my overly-busy schedule. However, I am doing this because I no longer have much time to write in a journal and I thought this would be a great way to share some thoughts. This may even keep you up to date on our lives, which is a good thing. I also think it's funny because I know I shouldn't be doing this right now, but I am. I even called Jeremy to tell him! He didn't talk me out of it. It's probably because I have been wanting to write for a while now and he knows that. I know we will enjoy keeping you guys up to date on our lives though... so here goes.

This summer has been CRAZY. It has been an amazing summer, but we have been way too busy. Before I got out of school Jeremy was in Toccoa for WOW weekend and Impact. I missed being there, but there wasn't any way I could get out of the last few days of school!! The day I finished post-planning, we started SuperWOW training. From there we went to Jekyll for three weeks. I learned lots under my new "title" of camp administrator. The staff was great and we had lots of good laughs. While at Jekyll I started my master's program at Walden University. I am focusing on Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. So far I love the program. We got home from Jekyll on July 5th, and celebrated the 4th with my family. Early the next morning I said goodbye to Jeremy and left for New York. I couldn't say no. I love going up there every summer with my family! I was there for two weeks. While there we got to visit the Adirondacks, mine for diamonds, ride on the Erie Canal through a lock, and were able to rest and play in the river. It was very relaxing and we had a blast! One of those weeks I was in New York, Jeremy was at a kid's camp in Florida. Then we both were home for a few days. During that time, Jeremy worked and I was able to hang out with family and purchase a pool for Maverick, our black lab. He has been digging holes all in our landscaping areas because he is so hot. We thought he might miss us, so we played with him lots, but he still dug. We decided he must be hot. My dad and I went to a few different Wal-Mart and the blue pools had holes in them, so he got a pink one. He loves it SO much and swims around in circles just to splash water on me! After the few days of being home, we left again. This time we traveled to Cape San Blas with Jeremy's family. We were able to spend some good time with the family! We drove home last Friday, so we could go to Randy and Amanda's wedding and enjoy the tax free weekend. I have now been home a total of 8 or 9 days this entire summer. Now that I've been home some, I've spent lots of time reading/writing for my master's class, reading for my "summer reading", and at the school getting my new library system put into place so my books do not "disappear" this year. Phew... that gets me tired just thinking about it. It's been great to make new friends, spend time with other friends, and to make some fun memories.
