Wiseman 5k and Sunset

Wednesday, December 14th we had a night Bible study at Amber's house. Jana and I got finished with practice and were on our way to my house to get ready when she called me. She asked me if we could pull over to watch the sunset. Of course I couldn't say no. We pulled over into a little restaurant/bar nearby, parked the cars, and ran across the road to an empty field. We got a few briars stuck in our legs but nothing to complain too much about.

Sunday, December 18th Jana, Robert, and I ran in the Wiseman 5k around Bethlehem. One of our b-ball girls and her entire family ran in it too. I did pretty well for the first 2 1/2 miles. The weather was good. It was a little chilly at the beginning, but after we got going I was comfortable and a little warm. My nose was running though and I couldn't take good breaths in and out. At the end, I was huffing and puffing. There were some major hills and we had Christmas lunch with Jeremy's dad's family so I felt like I was going to throw up at the end. Jana ended up catching up with me (yeah, we didn't run the entire thing together this time). She kept me going. I kept telling her to go ahead, but I couldn't let myself give up. This was her race to beat me. I finished in 26.11. She ended up taking 3rd place in our age group and got a little mug. Robert got 1st in his age group. I ended up spending the entire night sneezing and today my nose has been dripping all day.

We must spend too much time together because we definitely both wore green. Pretty soon, you will get to hear about our 12 races of 2012. I'm getting more and more excited about them. I am currently thinking a 5k is my maximum, but I have run over an hour a few days in the past month, so I know I am capable of going more than just 3 miles now. I don't see myself doing anything too crazy, like a marathon, though!
