New York 2009

It might be easiest to start at the bottom with the words and then return to the pictures. Here's some of my favorite memories from the past 11 days in New York.
We went to Old McDonald's Farm. I've been there a few times. They have a petting zoo, Wizard of Oz hayride, and a dairy farm tour. We got to see all kinds of animals.
Look at this fun camel!
Stacy loved the alpacas so much he had to kiss them.
Micah's first pony ride. He picked to ride on the little horse.
Miriam feeding the goals popcorn.
Micah loved feeding the cows on the hayride.

We went on a boat tour to see some of the islands off of the shore. We've pretty much been on every tour and every boat ride around the area, this one was the last one we needed to go on. Here's the crew before the ride. No one got sick!
Osprey nest on a power line.
TI Bridge- Thousand Island Bridge- connects Canada to the US.
Cindy loved Micah.
A lazy afternoon reading on the lawn and watching boats pass by. It was a little chilly though and Martha and Hannah got under the blankets.
My book with a boat passing by. You can see I got a lot of reading done can't you?!
French Festival parade: To start the parade off.....Napolean- not really it's the owner of the only grocery store in Cape Vincent. He rides in the parade every year.
I love all the bagpipers. They always make me smile!
This guy always cracks me up too.
It was a little rainy at the French Festival this year as you can tell from Martha's poncho.
Ready to bear the wind and water at the Cave of the Winds.

One of the only pictures of me the whole trip.
The fall on the right is the fall we got to go right beside and into.

A picture from the observation deck. I will agree the Canadian side has a better view from the observation deck. I was afraid I might get stuck in Canada this year though because I haven't gotten my name changed on my passport. I didn't take my chances. I'll look at my pics from the time we went on the Canadian side to reminisce!

Look at all the seagulls. It reminds me of The Birds- so scary.
Micah in his miniature poncho- ready for the Maid of the Mist. He ended up hiding his face the entire time it was "raining" on us. It was his first time at the falls.
Before picture- Cindy hadn't ever been either.
From the boat- Those little yellow specks are people... and we would be on those steps later in the day. You already saw the pictures of us there.
The cool shoes they gave us when we went to the Cave of the Winds. We walked up some stairs into Bridal Veil falls. It was AMAZING and we got wet!
Micah just fed one little seagull and they all came. It was again like Birds. Stacy had a squirrel eat a chocolate covered pretzel right out of his hands!
Micah entertained himself in the car by biting his BIG toe (really a water bottle). I think this is before Micah had an accident and wet his pants. WOOPS. I made him laugh too much. There was a shadow on the car ceiling and it looked like a parrot's beak so I acted like it was eating my fingers. He LOVED it, but I am afraid it caused an accident. :0 Sorry Miriam!
We always go to the Jefferson County fair. It's about 30 minutes from the Stone House. I've gotten sick from the rides there, but continue to return. This time I only rode a few rides so I'd keep myself from getting sick. One of those rides was with Micah in a LITTLE BITTY car. My knees were at my chin! Here's Hannah at the fair. Ya just have to get an apple!
Micah fished at the fair.
This is weed man. It was made from the seaweed/moss stuff from the river. Martha and I spent quite a while making him. She's a professional at making them.
The flag at the end of the dock on our last day. Brett put it up- I guess to wish us off- nah- really the other one broke off right before we got there.
A front view of the house. My room is on the second story, last two windows on the right.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures.

I left for New York last Monday (July 6th) and got home July 17th. The trip consisted of different people than last year. Momma and Daddy didn't get to make it up there this year. Daddy had kidney stones a few weeks ago and has had a rough time the past few weeks/month trying to get back in the swing of things. It's been a sad thing. I missed them being up there with us though. If you are just now joining the blog or don't know a lot about our trips to New York, I'll give you a brief rundown. My wonderful aunt Martha has a few houses up here on the Saint Lawrence Seaway and invites us up during the summer. One of the houses is called the Stone House. It is on the historical registry and was built in 1815. In a war it was used as a hospital and Napolean stayed there too. It's great because you can look outside and see Canada. (I think I got all my information correct). It's an AMAZING place up there. In the winter, the river freezes over and people can even drive across the river. Any other time during the year a ferry transports cars/people back and forth from Canada and the US.

My aunt Martha, uncle Brett, and cousin Hannah were up there when we got there. I rode with Miriam, Stacy, and Micah. Then a few days later Jeremy's mom and Jeff came. They hadn't been before and decided to make the trek. It's about 1007 miles and about 16-17 hours. It takes two days but it is worth the drive! There are some of the most beautiful sites on the way and some beautiful sunsets up here over the river. Virginia and Pennsylvania are some of the prettiest states to drive through

Adventures:

Monday-Tuesday- lots of driving

Wednesday- lots of relaxing

Thursday-Old McDonald's Farm: A full farm, petting zoo, hayride, and dairy farm/tour (Jeremy's mom and Jeff came up)

Friday- Playing in the river/boat ride out of the city of Clayton: We got out the paddle boat and had lots of fun with that. Hannah also pulled me around on a big blow up dragon/sea animal

Saturday and Sunday-French Festival: The French settled in Cape Vincent, so every year they have a HUGE festival and parade to celebrate the origin of the village. It rained right when we walked downtown and Martha bought us some ponchos. Thanks Martha!

Monday-Niagara Falls: We took a four hour drive over to Niagara Falls. We got to go on the Maid of the Mist, a boat into the falls. We have done this before from the Canadian side. Then we went to the Cave of the Winds, a stairway into the falls. It was like being in a hurricane!

Tuesday- It was a COLD day so we just hung around the house. No fair.

Wednesday- Jefferson County Fair: We got to have lots of fun at the fair once again. We've gone pretty much every year for as long as I can remember going up to New York (6 or 7 years). We ate afterwards this time so no one got sick!

Thursday- Friday: Lots of driving. Home sweet home.

I'll save my favorite sunset pictures until next time! I just wanted to give you a teaser of some pictures.

Until then- L
