1. Are my kids ready? I sure hope so! I have taught the material, I just hope they recall the stuff when it is needed. That's why we will review all week long.
2. Did you COVER everything? Well I did the best I could. I flew through some things. I took more time on other things. Hopefully they will have latched on to some things. I feel like my kids are much more prepared this year because I have a better handle on what we learn in 6th grade.
3. Are my kids nervous? YES!
4. Can my kids do it? I know they can!
5. What will we do for the next 9 weeks of school? The kids think NOTHING! I think NOT! We will still be learning. I hope to plan a fun integrated unit, maybe do the math board games again, teach integers (negative numbers), and make sure they have sixth grade skills down. I might have every class doing something different who knows?! Either way, I am sure I will keep myself busy.
6. What's the thing they have the hardest time with? Fractions, decimals, and percents (solving problems with them)- does this ever get easier?!
My goal this week:
I help them relax and realize how much they have learned this year. We learn SO much in 6th grade and so much of the stuff is so important in life. I want them to begin to value the skills and see their importance as they learn them so they will retain them. I also want them to latch onto any skills they have missed.
