A week in the life of Laura

What a fun/busy week and beautiful/WARM weekend.

We Super Bowl party hopped. We started off at my parents house and then went to be with Jeremy's family. It's a good thing the houses are so close! We made s'mores too with my new s'more maker! They were so yummy. Oh yeah, Momma has had some crazy things happen to her and her van over the past few years. She went be the credit union last week because she was ready to get a new car. By the end of the day she had a car delivered to her house! How wild?! Did you ever know they'd deliver cars to your house?! They were ready to sell the car.

I finally got to go see baby Kate (my team teacher's daughter). The 6th grade teachers provided a meal for her this week and Jeremy and I took it to her. It was so good to sit down and chat with her. We talked for a long time and realized we had been there over 2 hours and they hadn't even been able to eat their food. WOOPS!

At school it was a busy week. We/I had advisement, a faculty meeting, Thursday math tutoring, and  an all A's party... I felt like I didn't stop. The kiddos were crazy because they were stuck in at recess a few days because it was so cold. They had silent lunch 3 out of the 5 days. Two of our kids got in a kicking fight in the long-term sub's room and one of them got suspended for 5 days and may not be back. We don't have fights at the school, so it's very weird to hear of one. The fire alarm also went off at the most inconvenient time. The kids were coming back from connections and it went off. Some were waiting outside my door. Others were with their connections teacher. I had just gone in the bathroom because this was the last time I'd get to go until the end of the day. As I listened to the alarm over and over, I prayed it wasn't real. I had to run to my class, get all the stuff I have to take with me out of the building. It was chaos. We do all our drills in silence, but this was um, not like that! Then once they said go back to class, it was even worse. It was so crazy. The alarm kept going on and off and the kids would groan and be like "really?!" Oh, on top of all of that, we also had a tornado drill, but that went really well. Phew. It was a busy week, but everything got done.

House, 24, and American Idol keep me busy these days too. I feel like all I do is come home, work on master's stuff, watch tv, and go to bed. I bring home things to grade every day but they never get graded. I am just waiting for parents to complain b/c the grades aren't updated in the computer. Jeremy and I did a little grading today, now they just have to go in the grade book and computer.

Friday night I went out for a girls night out to celebrate Courtney's birthday. We went to Jim and Nicks and then to see He's Not That Into You. I love Jim and Nicks. I was introduced to it a few years ago in Conyers, but now we have one. It's a BBQ place. The manager pretty much hooked us up all night. We got a free appetizer and then made a deal with the manager. If we cleaned our plates he'd also give us free desserts. Well, he didn't know just who he was talking to. We are a competitive group. We all had to order our own meal, but we met the challenge! The movie was alright. I was expecting it to be a little different, but it was fun anyway. We had gotten tickets in the afternoon not knowing if it would be sold out later... I think it was. We goofed off so we wouldn't get to the movie so early, but we got there and there weren't many seats. We had to sit on the FRONT row. Why do they make the front row so close? Oh well, at least we all got to sit together. For $20, I got an appetizer, dinner, dessert, and a movie! Pretty much all of us were wearing gray. I only got a picture of a few of us though.

Today Jeremy and I went to Athens to hang out with Lauren. We enjoyed the beautiful day. We had lunch outside at DePaulo's, an italian restaurant. Then we enjoyed some yummy ice cream at Marble Slab. It's been a while since I had Marble Slab, but the warm weather made me crave my cookies and cake ice cream! She's a little over halfway through with law school and stays busy, like us, so we don't get to hang out much, but we had lots of fun.
