Valentine's Day 2009

As you know, we have never been Valentine's Day people. I don't really remember us every getting each other big gifts or anything. I might have made a couple cards over the years, but I haven't gone out to buy one for this day ever. We've had some meals together on that day in the past, I'm sure, but it was never something we went all out for. We didn't ooohhh and awe over the day. Right after we got engaged, Jeremy drove down to Milledgeville to see me. He brought PF Changs for us to eat. That was really special. I think I made him dinner a few times or he made me dinner, but it was never something we stressed about as some people do. At first, I was like what not celebrate Valentine's Day what does that mean?! Jeremy has never really liked the purpose behind the day: One day to show your love for your significant other. Why can't you share that love all through the year? I think that's why I don't really remember what we have done on Valentine's Day in the past what um... 7/8 years and I'm okay with that.

This year was just the same, however, we did a little bit of celebrating Friday night. We went to Sambuca with Katherine and Josh. It is an Italian restaurant in Atlanta. They play live jazz music as well. It was a treat. The food was DELICIOUS. Let me just tell you how much of a treat it was.... Appetizer: beignets (not like the ones in New Orleans) and cup of shrimp and crab bisque (J)+ Entree: surf and turf pasta (J) and chicken scaloppini (L) + Dessert: Tiramisu (J) and Fried Cheesecake (L) + great time with friends + entertainment + valet parking = $108.00. We both rated the experience afterwards. I gave it a 100 out of the scale 1-10. Jeremy gave it a 9.5 because we think the waitress forgot about us. It took us a while to flag her down to get our check, but she didn't charge Jeremy for all his cokes, so that was nice. I guess we fell in the Valentine's Day hole this year, but maybe that will help out the economy... that's how I will think about it. Katherine didn't know where they were going and she definitely didn't know they were meeting us there. She was surprised to see us. Josh thought about going skiing, but the prices were double what they usually are, so we decided against that. I wonder how surprised she would have been then!

Since today is actually Valentine's Day, we will spend our day cleaning/vacuuming the house, writing a paper (L), going to the mall to walk around, having fun playing with Micah while Miriam and Stacy go out, and who knows what else. Miriam asked if we'd order a heart-shaped pizza from Papa Johns. Who knows?! ;) With a clean house and the dishes all washed, who knows what will come from the evening!

Have a happy Valentine's Day yourself! Enjoy something fun! I love you all, but it's not the only day you should hear that from me all year...
