Some of them are a little immature and try to get attention, but for the most part they have the coolest personalities. We have some who cannot stay organized though. We have to pack their book bags and organize their folders daily to make sure they have things. They are making us want to pull our hair out because they cannot keep things in their binder, but we are getting it under control!
They keep asking me to their games too. This past week I went to a football game and a softball game between my students. One of the girls is the pitcher and she is pretty amazing. I've never seen someone so good in 6th grade. I'm pretty impressed and would have been scared to hit the ball when she pitched! You could see the smiles on their faces when they saw me at the game.
I also have a good lunch crew this year. Somehow I have gotten to sit with the boys at lunch the past three years, but this year I am with the girls. They are lots of fun. I had one girl's sister last year and her mom jumped all over me at a conference last year. I was a little scared about having the sister. Well, she sits beside me at lunch, brought me a birthday present, and brings me cookies and other things. It was her game I even went to. It's crazy to think I was dreading having her.
I have some boys who try not to touch anything with their hands at the bathroom because of germs. They press the water fountain with their knees and make me laugh every day as they put on their germ show at the bathroom.
I love my 4th period. Everyone in there exceeded on the CRCT. They are a hoot and are blowing me away at how fast they can grasp onto things. I never thought I would be afraid to run out of things to teach them before the CRCT!
A few weeks ago I was named the assistant track coach. How fun! I am super excited. I get to work alongside my friend, Brooke, who was on my team last year. They moved her up to 7th grade this year though. Mr. Bowen asked me if I was interested and I told him I was. Well, a few days went by and he told me I got the position!
I still love every moment of working with Brandi. I would be a bit sad if she wasn't right next door. This year we have two new additions and my collab teacher. Maleigh is the collab teacher and she is pretty amazing. She is the hardest working special education teacher. She cares so much. We have a blast teaching together too because we get along so well! YAY!
Our students are convinced we have a ghost. They said they have seen the doorknobs move and no one was at the door. Brandi, Maleigh, and I even heard a noise come from Megan's room (by the door) yesterday and she was on the other side of the room. We have named him Haymon.
