Week 1

Jeremy said he is going to record me talking about my students at the end of the first week, and each month from here on out. The progression is wild! By this I mean, my understanding and my observations of the students change through the year. At the beginning they may seem shy, but in time they will show their true colors. Right now they may not know anyone so they aren't acting out, but once they get to know people, the flood comes. I am not saying they are always bad, but some of them are feeling us out to see what they can and cannot get away with right now. As a team, we've identified those students and are ready to attack! They don't realize how aware we are.

Week 1: I love my students. We have some pretty smart kids on our team- opposite from last year- so I'm excited about challenging them. Their personalities are also neat. I like to talk to them and they do a fairly decent job of carrying on a conversation. YAY! My homebase is packed with boys, but they seem to behave in class so right now I'm not worrying about that. We also have some teachers kids so I'm sure that helps. Again, all of them aren't perfect. We have a few that I've had to get onto for talking in the hall and for not following directions, but overall it's been pretty good. I haven't had anyone cry on my yet and they have been able to open their locker. They seem really prepared this year too. Not many of them came to sneak-a-peak so I don't know why I feel like they are prepared, but I do. They seem to be grasping the information more than the previous 3 groups. In addition to the basic procedural things, they seem to have a better knowledge of the material. Maybe it's because we have some higher achieving students and I'm not stressing about helping them at this point in the game. I do have some who need me at their side at all times to tell them where they go for their next class and things like this, but other than that, they are doing well! Let's hope we have good reports from here on out!
