Shopping, sayings, Santa, and songs

So, I'm really excited. The countdown is on... 5 days of school left. YAY. I thought I'd share a little post about shopping, sayings, Santa, and songs. Yes, I know this is not what Christmas is about, but I still wanted to share.

Jeremy and I got to go Christmas shopping yesterday. Hopefully we will finish with our shopping this week. I made Jeremy a list of what to get people and he said he'd go this week. What a sweet husband I have!

We went to a Christmas party last night and throughly enjoyed ourselves. We played a little game with movie quotes from Christmas movies. I was not very good, but maybe it's been over 11 months since I have seen those movies, so I guess I have the right to forget the famous quotes. It really got me in the mood to watch Christmas movies though. We don't get many channels at our house, so if we don't own the movies I don't know how many of them I'll be watching this year either. I love my Christmas movies and would watch them all during December if I had time. Things like "Santa, I know him!" from Elf, "Teacher says every time a bell rings an angel gets its wings" from It's a Wonderful Life, and "If you're really Santa Claus, you can get me it for me, if you can't you're just a nice man with a white beard like Mommy says" from Miracle on 34th Street.

This past week, I had a girl ask me if Santa exists. We were in the middle of changing classes, I mean really, is that the time to ask a question like that?! I said yes, but thought maybe not in the form in which you think he exists. When I told Jeremy the story that evening, he exclaimed, "LAURA!" I tried to come up with excuses for why I said what I did. I mean why do I need to be the person that breaks that to someone? Instead of causing this little girl to cry, I sent her on her way and heard her say, "Mrs. McBryar says he's real!" Sigh... sooner or later the truth will be known.

The other morning I heard a song on the radio that made me laugh. It's called "It's the Most Fattening Time of the Year" and until I can get the video on here, you should go to youtube and check out the song. Or you could go google the words and sing it to the tune of "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" to get the same effect. Although many people try to eat less, there is just more food around to partake. There are parties with lots of goodies and it's just hard not to snack. Oh well, then the resolutions will be made to lose weight. It's a never ending cycle in society. For now, it's goodbye but I will post soon I'm sure because things might be a little slower this week.
